CAN are planning a charity trek to Peru, along the Inca trail. The itinerary below is a 14 day itinerary, due to circumstances, flights, costs etc this may be reduced to 11 days
(provisional dates: 20 May 2007 - 2 June 2007)
Provisional Itinerary

Day 1
- Travel from Heathrow on an early flight to Lima
- Saturday night (Day 1) Hotel in Lima.

Day 2
- Leave Lima for flight to Puerto Maldonado. Travel from Puerto Maldonado to Jungle lodge - approx 2 hours bus and 3 hours boat ride along an Amazonian river with plenty of wild life. Camera a must!

Days 2 – 5
- Stay in Jungle lodges (3 nights) with 2 days rain forest / jungle treks Possibility of swimming with the Piranhas, Anacondas, Caymen etc!!! Plus possibility of night-time boat ride to search for Caymen etc and also short night time forest trek with guide

Day 5
- Travel back to Puerto Maldonado via Boat / bus, for the flight to Cusco

Days 5, 6 and 7 (2 nights)
- Time in Cusco, a city that sits at approx 12500ft above sea level, to acclimatise to altitude etc. Plus visits to the wonderful Inca sites around the city, and probably a short trek around Inca Sites, again to acclimatise.

Day 7
- Catch bus early for journey to the start of the Inca Trail. Start 1st leg of Inca Trail around 1pm.

Day 8
- After our 1st night camp we shall be starting early for the next stage of the Inca Trail (This is probably the hardest stage, as we shall be reaching an altitude of approx 14000ft). Today we shall be passing through, and camping in, the ‘Cloud Forest’ area. Our next campsite shall be at the bottom of "Dead Woman’s Pass".

Day 9
- Again, an early start for the next stage of the Inca Trail again through the cloud forest, passing some wonderful Inca sites, plus Flora and Fauna. The camp site tonight shall be our highest campsite, at around 12000ft, and also the coldest. (Could be around freezing)

Day 10
- Start with a very early call, to hopefully see the sun rise above the Mountains and also shining down onto Machu Picchu Mountain (Not village). After breakfast we start our quite steep descent, down into the valley, for our final days trekking towards Machu Picchu itself. We should arrive at the Sun Gate around 3-4pm for our 1st Glimpse of Machu Picchu, quite a stunning site. Today, we shall have time for a short wander around Machu Picchu before catching the bus down into the Valley for our final camping night. Tonight there is the possibility of bathing in Natural volcanic springs.

Day 11
- Another early start to catch the Bus back up to Machu Picchu. When we arrive, as it is early, we shall be there before the crowds start to arrive, We shall have a fully guided tour around the wonderful sights of Machu Picchu, and then have approx 3-4 hours free time to wonder around. Approx 4 pm, we shall catch the train back to Cusco. Tonight we shall be staying in the Hotel in Cusco

Day 12
- Another chance to take in the sites around Cusco

Day 13
- Plane back from Cusco to Lima, Stay in Hotel In Lima.

Day 14
- Time for a short tour of Lima and perhaps a visit to the local GOLD Museum.
- Our Plane back from Lima to Heathrow, shall be leaving approx 6pm Local Time, and arriving back to Heathrow provisionally around midnight the following day, Local London Time.
As well as the £2500.00 minimum sponsorship, you should require no more than £100.00 for local tips, local payments etc. plus spending money.
There are individual costs for everybody when in Peru, the main cost being Departure taxes, these are payable at every airport upon departure, the cost is likely to be around a total of 60 US Dollars (around £30.00). This would have to be paid on an individual basis each time we depart from an airport.
All meals shall be included for the camping and Jungle trips, Only Breakfast to be included at the Hotels.
Everybody’s Passport must be valid for a period of at least 6 months following our return from Peru. i.e. they must be valid until December 2007 at the very least. We shall require correct passport details with deposits.
Sleeping bags, and fleece type coats shall now be available to hire once in Peru, instead of taking them over, as this allows for more space for general luggage etc. The approximate cost of hiring the sleeping bag and fleece is around £25.00 each item for the 5 days camping.
