Walk in Safety with Grivel

Winter in the fells is a spectacular time of year, cold, clear days a hint of snow on the tops and ice underfoot. Grivel has the perfect answer for those who want to feel safe but don’t want to have to wear a full crampon when out walking in these conditions.

The Spider is an ingenious yet very simple piece of kit designed specifically for walkers and will fit any shoe or boot. It’s a 10 pointed polyamide structure which does not require adjustment to adapt to any type of footwear, in any size. Used correctly the Spider will provide an important margin of safety on iced-over trails, wet grass, snow or simply hiking on steep muddy paths. The Spider can be put together without the use of tools and comes in two parts which fit together for transport with the points facing inward for added safety.

Grivel has also introduced a new XL model of the extremely popular Salamander helmet which is designed for alpine rock and ice climbing. This helmet is ideal for expeditions in colder regions as a warm hat can be worn underneath or for bigger heads. It has the same ABS outer shell, inner layer of shock absorbing polystyrene foam and extremely efficient air circulation system as the original version.
Also new to the range is the Salamander Junior which is a smaller sized helmet designed for women, young people and children. It has all the same characteristics as its older brother and exactly the same high standard of protection and comfort.
