OutDoor can already use the new A7 exhibition hall in 2008

The contract has been signed! At the headquarters of the European Outdoor Group (EOG) in Seon, Switzerland, both partners - EOG and Messe Friedrichshafen - jointly put to paper the future of OutDoor for another five years. According to this agreement, the European trade show will be held in Friedrichshafen at least until the year 2013. During a secret ballot in January, 2008, the majority of the 47 EOG members voted in favour of the venue at Friedrichshafen.
Meanwhile, preparations for OutDoor 2008 (17-20 July) are in full swing. This year, once again the figures point to continued growth: 687 exhibitors from 38 countries (corresponding to a foreign participation rate of over 70 percent) have already registered. "We are now the only key summer event for sports equipment dealers who sell outdoor equipment," says Stefan Reisinger, Project Manager of OutDoor Friedrichshafen, refering to the large number of registrations.
The third OutDoor Industry Award will again be presented this year in recognition of outstanding new products and prototypes. Last year, over 200 entries from 21 countries were submitted to the jury.
Trade show organizers have also been given the go-ahead from the building company that is working on expanding the exhibition facilities in Friedrichshafen. One of two additional halls can already be temporarily put into service for OutDoor 2008: "The construction project is right on schedule," said Messe Friedrichshafen CEO Klaus Wellmann in reaction to the good news that one hall can already be used this year. According to current plans, the fashion show, the tent city and the East Entrance will be located in the new exhibition hall called A7. This will create additional exhibition space in the other halls. The official completion date for the expansion project with two additional halls and the new entrance foyer with convention space and meeting rooms has been set for July, 2009 and will be officially inaugurated at OutDoor 2009. This will increase the total amount of exhibition space to 85,000 sqm.
