Practice Hill Walk - The Malverns
Yes - it is true, I completed a practice hill trek last weekend in preparation for my the full deal in New Zealand. The group who will be trekking together in New Zealand next year all met up for a practice trek in the Malverns. I was a bit worried on the morning of the walk because it was chucking it down and I haven't bought any waterproofs yet, so thought I might be in for a pretty miserable day! The Trek
I have signed up to do an epic trek to New Zealand in March 2007. I will be trekking in support of Acorns Children’s Hospice Trust. This is a cause which is very close to my heart, and I have supported them for a number of years. The desperate need for hospices was brought home to me when one of my close friends had a daughter who was diagnosed with a terminal illness at the age of 3. His family found the help and support offered by the hospice invaluable. Tragically, his daughter died last year, but the hospice continued to offer support in the form of bereavement counselling. Times are very hard for hospices at the moment, the Government has cut funding for organisations such as Acorns, and as a result, beds have been closed and the number of families it is possible to help is dropping. I have to raise £4000.00 to allow me to go on the trek, all flight costs etc are being covered personally. read more »
