Trek Japan - On the Edge - 4th - 14th October 2007

Join us in the trekking mecca of Japan to experience the beauty of this remote and stunning landscape. This is trekking at its best - you will brave awe-inspiring ridges and breathtaking climbs to two of the most spectacular peaks of the North Alps.

Mention these places to the Japanese and you’ll see them weaken at the knees with a twinkle in their eye. This unique experience will take you from the buzzing metropolis of Tokyo to the summit of Mount Yari, staying in scenic mountain lodges on the way. We will be rewarded with wonderful natural hot springs and the beautiful castle of Matsumoto before celebrating Japanese style among the neon lights and karaoke bars of the vibrant capital city.

This trek is in association with the charity Sense International

About Tara Basi

Biography

Tara Basi was reluctantly dragged in to a charity event in 2004 to climb Kilimanjaro and hated every minute. Something must have stuck though as he now treks whenever he can and recently returned from another charity event in Namibia.

Having travelled widely, his unfulfilled passion is to be immersed in the more rural aspects of Japanese culture and the breathtaking natural beauty of the interior. This is a part of Japan that most westerners never see and is a world apart from the large metropolises for which Japan is most known.

He is now planning a series of trips to undiscovered Japan, starting with a truly amazing trek to the Northern Alps in October, again to raise money for charity.
