Workplace Giving UK work with over 1000 employers and on behalf of 200 charities to help companies provide employee fundraising solutions.
Until recently our main area of fundraising was Payroll Giving. Payroll Giving or Give As You Earn, is an HM Revenue & Customs scheme in the UK, which allows employees of participating companies to give to any charity they choose by having a simple deduction made from their pay before tax - no direct debit for the individual to set up and no gift aid for the charity to claim back – this encourages more people to give, thse who do give, to give regularly, and ensures that the charities receive the maximum amount of money.
After successfully relaunching some large Payroll Giving schemes including the Arcadia Group and Barclays Bank more and more employers were approaching us and asking us what else we could do for them.
Our MD, Peter O’Hara, had recently completed a trek to Machu Pichu and had found it to be a life changing experience, his only gripe was the limitations of being able to raise money for the charity he wanted to raise funds for and at the same time being able to do the trek he wanted to do, in the end he had to compromise. We thought that it would be great to be able to offer a site where people could choose to do any event for any charity.
Although our site was initially developed to fullfill the fundraising needs of the companies we work with, it can be used by anyone.
Employers can also get involved by enhancing their employees fundraising by paying the registration fee, matching, in part or in full, their sponsorship money or giving them extra time off work to complete the challenge.
We are also able to offer bespoke challenges to companies and these can generate great PR for the company or be used for team building or staff rewards.
